Meet the Greater Maryland Chapter (MDBMBA)

The Greater Maryland Chapter was founded in 2020 by a small team of long-term NBMBAA® members who recognized an untapped need for Black professionals and businesses in Maryland. COVID-19 and other events in 2020 underscored the absence of resources for this community.

The Greater Maryland Chapter is an award-winning chapter of the NBMBAA®, bringing home honors for Membership Growth, Membership Retention, Career, and Lifestyle. These awards reflect the chapter’s commitment to excellence and its positive impact on members and the broader community.

Through programming and structured activities, the MDBMBA supports the educational, economic, and career advancement opportunities for Black students, entrepreneurs, and professionals in Maryland. Our values are based upon the principles of the National Black MBA Association: Integrity, Diversity and Inclusion, Economic Empowerment, Education, Excellence, and Service. The MDBMBA team understands that commitment to these ideals has been and will continue to be the cornerstone for this chapter's success.

In October 2025, the Greater Maryland Chapter will proudly celebrate five years of impactful service to the Maryland community.

The National Black MBA Association® (NBMBAA) fosters economic equity and career advancement for historically underrepresented professionals and aspiring leaders through transformative educational opportunities, robust professional networks, and actionable advocacy for wealth creation and inclusion.

The National Black MBA Association® was conceived in 1970 to help Blacks coming into the corporate sector, largely for the first time, share experiences and insights to help make the journey easier. By nurturing these new professionals, the organization helped early members navigate and, ultimately, succeed in unfamiliar and frequently challenging environments. It is those professionals who have risen up and reached back to bring up the next generation of Black professionals through providing coaching, guidance, and mentoring. This has carried through the decades as the members who have followed found the same sense of connection and camaraderie among their colleagues and have continued to reach back to uplift new generations.

NBMBAA has a deep and rich history of enriching the lives of Black youth and professionals that we continue to celebrate today!
